GrapevineStar India Trend Alert….Hip Hop & Bollywood…Friday Nights are Hip Hop and R&B Night in Mumbai
Stop Number 2 – India – Home of Bollywood
We all know about “America’s Most Loveable Pimp” Snoop Dog who made his debut in India, with a guest appearance on the title track of a highly anticipated Bollywood movie, “Singh Is Kinng.” The single continues in heavy rotation on some radio stations in India.
A fusion of hip-hop and bhangra with a simple chorus (“Singh is Kinng, Singh is Kinng, Singh is Kinng”), it features Snoop Dogg giving “what up to all the ladies hanging out in Mumbai” and rapping about “Ferraris, Bugattis and Maseratis.”
“I really dig how much music is infused with the movies” in Bollywood, Snoop Dogg said in an e-mailed response to questions. “Lots of hip-hop tracks sample Indian music, and a lot of their music sounds like it was influenced by hip-hop,” he said. “We’re putting together something real big” in India, that will include collaborations, live shows and “more movies with some of my Bollywood homies.”
While Hip Hop historically had limited appeal in India, its popularity is growing with promotion efforts by Snoop, DJ Drama, Cashmere Asia and others, Hip Hop and R&B will continue to grow says Jacob R. Miles III, CEO GrapevineStar, a globally focused media and entertainment company.
Hip hop star Tyree Cinque Simmons, better known as DJ Drama, thinks that the hip-hop culture is becoming increasingly popular in India thanks to the internet.
The 32-year-old artist is on a mission to spread the hip-hop culture all over the world and has been touring extensively, including Asian countries like China, Japan, and UAE (Dubai). His next destination is India.
Drama is performing in three cities in India for the fourth edition of Tuborg Vh1 Hip Hop Hustle, including Mumbai, New Delhi and Hyderabad
GrapevineStar India Trend Alert….Friday Nights are Hip Hop and R&B Night in Mumbai
Friday nights have certainly acquired a new meaning in the city of Mumbai, India. How’s that? Well, they’re exclusive hip hop and RnB nights at the High Lounge at Sahara Star and this Friday night too was one such party night, high on music!
International DJ, Emmanuel Skinner from California was the man on the floor, spinning music that was out of the world! With models from Australia gyrating to the upbeat music along with our desi celebs, this was surely the place to be. Not only was there great music, but you could smell the scent of flavoured sheeshas in the midst of all the crazy beats.
While the opening set was by DJ Amol Gautam, resident DJ Amann Nagpal too was seen behind the console. And on the dance floor was a crowd that just couldn’t get enough of the high-on-energy music!
So If You Didn’t Know!…Now You Know!….N*$$$@Z!…..Hip Hop is Global….Next Up China
